Paul Martin is new to Atlanta and St. Bede’s. Born and brought up in Bristol, UK, he moved to the USA in 1985 and became a citizen 7 years later. Paul has worked in pastoral ministry, then for 10 years as owner of an Allstate agency, and most recently for 14 years as a househusband. His wife Barb is a Pastor in the United Church of Christ. When she retired in spring 2023, they moved south to be near their grandchild and settled in Brookhaven. Barb has joined Central UCC in Atlanta (and is happy to be Queen of the kitchen again). Paul’s spiritual home for many years has been the Community of Aidan and Hilda, an inclusive and ecumenical Community which draws inspiration from the early British and Celtic saints. Of the Community of Aiden and Hilden, Paul says, “We are pioneering living a monastic life under a shared but individual Way of Life while dispersed and involved in society. (Find us at: https://aidanandhilda.wordpress.com)” Paul’s main hobbies are choral singing and following Bristol City Football Club (a searching penitential practice). Paul was first drawn to St. Bede’s by the website, which proclaims “Being Church in New Ways.” He is excited to join the Vestry in finding out what new things God is doing among us, then doing them.
